“DARDHA’S RIDGE” TRAIL

Starts at the center of Fushe-Arrez Municipality, in Albania, passes through the village of Fushe-Arres, continues along the pine trail toward “Krrab” Mount, “Micoj” and “Lumeardh villages, then toward the St. Rrok Church, the valley of “Prrez”, “Nik Zogu’s” mountain hut, “Laku i Ballshit” ridge, toward “Dardha” ridge, then continues to “Dardha” mountain hut, “Brahaj” mountain hut, the “Orosh” village, along the “Kryeziu Waterfall”, then to “Kryeziu” village and again to the St. Rrok Church, and then follows the ridge all the way to the finish line in Fushe-Arrez town center.

“THE ROE DEER” TRAIL

Starts at the centre of Fushe-Arrez Municipality, passes through the village of Fushe-Arres, follows the pine trail toward “Krrab” Mount, to the “Micoj” and “Lumeardh” villages, then toward the St. Rrok Church, the valley of “Prrez,” “Nik Zogu’s” mountain hut, the “Laku i Ballshit” ridge, toward “Dardha” mountain hut, “Brahaj” mountain hut, the “Orosh” village, follows the “Kryeziu Waterfall”, goes through “Kryeziu” village, goes back toward the St. Rrok Church, and then follows the ridge all the way to the finish line in Fushe-Arrez town center.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS ACTIVITY

The “International Ultra Trail Migrants Marathon Fushe-Arrez” project comes as collaboration between the “Maraton Albania” sport association and the Municipality of Fushe – Arrez in Albania. Its aim is not only athletic; this International sport event will promote the region also by highlighting its natural, cultural, and traditional values. It will bring athletes and sports enthusiasts from Albania and abroad, turning the area into not only a sports attraction but also a tourist destination.

 

WHY THE NAME “MIGRANTS’ MARATHON FUSHE-ARREZ”?

 

The marathon is named “Migrants Marathon Fushe-Arrez” because it coincides with the annual traditional celebration of the town, “Homeland is a legacy.” During these days, residents of Fushe-Arrez, along with their families and friends, whether local or emigrated gather to celebrate, reconnect, and strengthen their bond with each other and with their homeland. Cultural and artistic activities are organized by the Municipality of Fushe-Arrez during these days.

Outdoor sports are the best gift you can give yourself. They are a pure source of energy offering physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL ULTRA TRAIL “MIGRANTS MARATHON FUSHE-ARREZ”

This marathon is organized in cooperation between the “Maraton Albania” sport association and the Municipality of Fushe-Arrez in Albania. The marathon takes place entirely within the territory of Fushe-Arrez Municipality. The terrain is predominantly mountainous, rich in natural landscapes, pine and fir forests, diverse flora, rivers, and many water sources along the trail. The marathon includes several race categories: a mini-marathon of 11 km, half-marathon of 21 km, and ultra trail distances of 40 km, 60 km, and 100 km.

 

This sporting event is supported by the Albanian Athletics Federation, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, and all sports clubs and associations with a similar profile inside and outside of Albania. It is organized and conducted fully in line with the principles, conditions, and criteria defined in Law No. 79/2017 “On Sports,” as amended.
